Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, an animated full-length movie, is one of the most inspirational films of our time. It was brilliantly brought to life by every talent associated with it. More than a story about Spirit, to a seeker of Truth it is a story about our sojourn on earth and successfully finding our way through the maze of everyday life. The theme song, I Will Always Return, resonates with the soul. In the first part of the movie we hear “… and in the hour of darkness … your light gets me through.” The same song at the end adds, “I know the road is long but where you are is home.”
Each of us is searching and there are thousands of spiritual and self-help books from every ilk in every bookstore and library around the world to help. Many are moving and profound while others offer positive thinking themes with affirmations or come with a host of parroted platitudes. The latter two have never worked for me because neither deals with the root cause. Both might repress feeling unhappy for the moment but neither transforms the feelings or they would not come back. I always wanted to realize what the Eastern philosophies call Nirvana but in order for me to “knock and it will be opened,” I’m the temperament type who needs to know what the door looks like, the address and directions for how to get to that door!
I found the door or you might say it found me. This book is about my journey, what the door looks like, the address and directions for getting there. It was written from personal events after my spiritual realization and the inspirational messages that came to me during these experiences. Most are everyday experiences; some might even seem a little mundane for a topic as grand as realizing God. Then again, “all that ever was or ever will be was created by God” leaving me to accept my everyday life is a spiritual gift that provides an ever-increasing spiritual vision.
If we are to reside here, and apparently we must, discovering our spiritual link to self-worth and contentment must be practical. Sugar coating daily living with mystical snake oil is only a temporary feel-good ploy enabling us to cope. There is nothing wrong with this but an absolute recognition of our individual Godhead is better. It is permanent. It is also practical, an awareness that speaks to you and me in silence.
